This is a camp song and a hand game. Campers will arrange themselves in a circle. Each camper puts their right hand palm up on top of the hand of the camper standing to the right. Going to the rhythm of the song, one camper brings their right hand across to hit the camper on their left hand (to “Down”). That camper does the same thing with his right hand to the next player, and so on, with the beat of the rhyme. When the song ends, if the last camper’s hand is hit on the word ‘out’, they are out. If they manage to avoid being hit, the camper who tried to hit them is out instead.

Down by the banks of the Hanky Panky,
Where the bull frogs jump from bank to banky,
With a hip, hop, hippity, hop,
Leap off a lily pad and go KERPLOP!
Down by the banks of the Hanky Panky,
Where the bull frogs jump from bank to banky,
With a flip, flop, flippity, flop,
Leap off a lily pad and go KERPLOP!
Down by the banks of the hanky panky
Where the bullfrogs jump from bank to banky
With an eep, ipe, ope, op,
Ee-sock-a-diddly and go KERPLOP!
